# Communication settings

> How information requests reach customers, which webhook carries them, and the templates analysts and flows use.

    <img className="hidden dark:block rounded-lg" src={`/images/guides/${id}.dark.png`} alt={alt} loading="lazy" decoding="async" />
  </Frame>;

**Settings → Communication** needs `communications:write` to change.

## How information requests are delivered

Frayme never sends email. When an analyst or a Send RFI node raises a request, Frayme emits a signed `case.rfi_requested` webhook with the recipient, subject and body; your systems send the message and record the reply.

## Choose the communication webhook

**Communication Webhook** picks which of your webhook configs receives those events: **Default** or a named config from **Settings → API**.

## Templates

**Communication Templates** lists the email templates. **Create Template** asks for **Name**, **Description**, **Subject** and **Body**; **Available variables** shows what you can interpolate.

## Variables

`${caseId}`, `${caseType}`, `${customer.name}`, `${customer.email}`, `${customer.phone}`, `${subject.displayName}`, `${subject.external_customer_id}`, `${subject.person.dateOfBirth}`, `${subject.business.legalName}`, `${subject.business.country}`, `${subject.transaction.amount}`, `${subject.transaction.currency}`, `${subject.transaction.type}` and, for flow-sent requests, `${rfi.id}`. Anything else renders empty and is reported to the sender.

## Used by analysts and workflows

Analysts pick a template in **Request Information**; engineers pick one on the Send RFI node. Deleting a template a flow uses makes that flow fail validation.
