# Versions, history and rollback

> Draft, active, disabled and superseded versions; how saves fork drafts; the change history; and how to roll back.

## Lifecycle statuses

| Status         | Meaning                                                               |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Draft**      | The editable head; never served cases, or a fork of an active version |
| **Active**     | Live; new cases run on it                                             |
| **Superseded** | Was active; replaced by a newer activation                            |
| **Disabled**   | Explicitly deactivated; no longer serves new cases                    |

## Editing an active flow forks a draft

Saving changes on the active version creates **Draft vN+1**; the active version keeps serving cases until you activate the draft. The list shows both badges.

## Activate and supersede

Activating a draft makes it live and marks the previous active version **Superseded**: **vN is now live; vM was superseded.**

## Deactivate

**Deactivate** disables the live version. Cases already in progress finish; new submissions to the flow are refused until a version is activated again.

## Change history

**History** in the toolbar opens **Change history**: **Created**, **Draft saved**, **Edited** (forked a draft from the active version), **Activated**, **Superseded** and **Deactivated**, each with the actor and time.

## Compare a draft with the live version

When the head is a draft and a version is live, the History sheet starts with a summary of what the draft changes compared to the live version: nodes added, removed and edited.

## Roll back

There is no rollback button. To return to an older version: open it read-only with **View**, confirm it is what you want, then edit the head to match (or re-import its nodes) and **Activate**. A superseded version cannot be activated directly.
