# HTTP Request

> Call an arbitrary HTTP endpoint, synchronously or with a callback.

Type `httpRequest`.

## Fields

| Field                            | Meaning                                                                                      |
| -------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Method**, **URL**              | GET, POST, PUT, PATCH or DELETE and the endpoint                                             |
| **Headers**                      | Name / value rows; secret headers are redacted on export                                     |
| **Body**                         | With `${...}` interpolation, for example `{"document": "${input.document_number}"}`          |
| **Output variable**              | Where the response lands (default `response`)                                                |
| **Timeout (s)**, **Retry count** | Bounds for the call                                                                          |
| **Async callback mode**          | The remote system answers later through a **Webhook config**; map callback fields to outputs |

In callback mode the case shows as active but waiting until `POST /cases/{caseId}/callbacks/{callbackRef}` arrives with the **Deliver callbacks** API scope.
